Alabama landed the No.1 runningback in the state, Roydell Williams, late Saturday night.

“First off, I would like to give all the praise and the glory to the man above for blessing me with this amazing ability, not only that the blessing to play the game I truly love,” Williams said via Twitter. “I would like to give a huge thanks to my family, teammates, coaches, and everyone that has supoorted me throughout this process. Thanks to my mom, dad, and sister for being there for me through any and everything. With that being said, I am beyond excited to say I am committed to the University of Alabama.”

Williams is a 4-Star runningback and is undoubtedly the top back in the state and one of the best in the nation. He put up video game numbers this season, including multiple 400 yard performances.

Alabama and Auburn were battling it out for Williams’ services and a visit on Iron Bowl weekend sealed the deal up for the Tide. Alabama now has nine verbal commits in the 2020 recruiting class. Williams’ commitment puts the Tide’s 2020 in-state commitment number to six.

The Tide is getting an all-purpose back in every sense of the word in Williams. He is an effective runner and that is well documented, but it is his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and make plays in the open field that will allow him to flurish in this new age of college football. He is also an effective playmaker at quarterback in the wildcat formation.

Nick Saban and company now has one quarterback, one wideout, one tightend, and one runningback committed to their 2020 recruiting class. It took the Tide’s 2019 class almost six more months to reach that accomplishment.

Alabama’s 2020 class is off to arguably a better star than their 2019 class as the Tide looks to take the recruiting crown two years straight. Touchdown Alabama will be here to give you all the updates you need to stay on top of everything.
