Janari Dean reflects on Alabama offer

Alabama offered Janari Dean on Saturday during its elite junior day event.

Dean is a defensive back out of South Panola High School in Batesville, Mississippi,. He has six Division 1 offers. Nick Saban informed the lifelong Alabama fan of his offer from the Tide.

“Coach Saban had me in his office and he told me,” Dean said. “It was a surprise,Β my dad was the only one that knew.Β It is really a blessing from the man above.”

The South Panola product got to do a little bit of everything on Saturday during his time on the campus of the University of Alabama, including getting his first look at the revamped Alabama coaching staff.

“I was excited to be there,” Dean said. “I got to tour the campus and meet all the coaches.”

The Tide has three defensive backs committed in the 2020 recruiting class after Jahquez Robinson verbally committed to the Tide on Saturday. 4-Star recruits, Javier Morton and Malachi Moore, are the Tide’s other 2020 DB commits.

Dean stuffed the rushing stat column during his junior season as he used his speed and tough running style to make big plays. Both of those traits translate to the defensive side of the ball as he can come downhill with great speed and make big hits. He is also an aggressive safety, who thrives in run support.

Alabama was able to pulled a defensive back out of Mississippi during the last recruiting cycle when they snag Brandon Turnage. Ole Miss and Mississippi State have put their offers on the table and look to be right in the mix for Dean.

Dean will continue to get offers as his recruitment heats up even more.
