According to USA Today, Alabama head coach Nick Saban will undergo surgery to have his right hip replaced on Monday. The six-time national champion announced that he would have his right hip examined during a press conference after the crimson tides annual spring game.
Saban just turned 67 during the 2018 season and continues to be one of the most involved coaches during practice. He has always worked directly with the defensive backs for a number of drills.
Many would think that Saban would be nearing the end with some coaches even sighting his age as an issue during recruiting. But he addressed the retirement rumblings earlier in the spring when talking about getting his hip checked out.
“I want to get it fixed because I don’t want to coach for one more year, I want to coach for a lot more years,” said Saban.
