Editor’s note: This is part two of an eight-piece series that will take a look at the entire team as Alabama heads into summer workouts. Register to view the premium content in this series. Here we take a look at Alabama’s running back group, which lost its top two players from last year, but returns a ton of talent.

Projected depth chart

RB1: Najee Harris

RB2: Brian Robinson

Young guys developing: Jerome Ford, ChaDarius Townsend

Scheduled to arrive in the summer: Trey Sanders, Keilan Robinson

What we like

Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs are gone for the NFL, but plenty of talent remains in the backfield for Alabama.

Is this finally Najee Harris’ year? Harris was the No. 1 running back and the No. 2 player overall in the country during the 2017 recruiting cycle. During his freshman year, Alabama had Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris and Josh Jacobs ahead of him. Last season, it was Damien Harris and Jacobs. Now, no one stands in front of Najee as he is the clear-cut RB1 heading into the 2019 season.
