LSU commit, Kayshon Boutte, reacts to Alabama offer

Alabama put plans in motion to flip one of LSU’s 2020 in-state commits by offering 4-Star wide receiver, Kayshon Boutte, on Wednesday.

Alabama’s defensive coordinator, Pete Golding, informed the Louisana product of his offer from the Crimson Tide. The Tide’s offer pushes Boutte’s offer list to ten. He said Alabama is one of the schools, he wanted to recruit him.

“I was excited because I always wanted Alabama to offer me,” Boutte said.

Boutte committed to LSU in October and his commitment has remained firm. Growing up approximately an hour and 15 minutes away from Baton Rouge in New Iberia, Louisana, Boutte was mostly a fan of the Tigers but has respect for what Alabama has done over the last decade.

“Alabama is doing great things and it is nice to watch them succeed,” Boutte said.

The Louisiana native’s junior season was highlighted by his ability to be a weapon in the passing and return game. His speed jumps out on film, which is a result of the hard work he puts in with Westgate High School’s track team. He also has no problem with catching balls in traffic and turning small pass receptions to big plays with his second gear speed in the open field.

The Westgate product compiled 1,528 all-purpose yards and 24 touchdowns last season

If Alabama wants to flip Boutte, they have some work to do. Boutte expressed he did not have a close relationship with Alabama’s staff at the moment and they have not set up a visit just yet, but expect Alabama to do everything in their power to get him on campus in hopes they can get a horse in the race for his signature. It is important to note Alabama does have three wide receivers committed in their 2020 class and they want to load up at the wide receiver position this cycle.

Boutte is also currently part of one of the best classes in the nation with his commitment to the Tigers. The future looks bright for LSU also, which is another hurdle Alabama will have to jump over to get Boutte’s full attention.
