Nick Saban, Alabama not urgent about signing a QB for 2020 class

In a loaded quarterback class, which consists of five-star DJ Uiagalelei and four-stars Bryce Young and Carson Beck, Nick Saban and Alabama does not seem urgent about the position for its 2020 recruiting cycle.

The Crimson Tide has no quarterback committed in the class, despite having three wide receivers and a tight end provide them with a hard-verbal commitment.

While there has been concern from Tide fans, sources have confirmed with Touchdown Alabama Magazine on the reason why it has no QB for the class. According to them, Alabama is “excited about what it has in Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson.”

The two four-stars from the 2019 cycle headlined a top-ranked group for Saban and is the unit that looks to restore the “Bama factor.”

After this season, it is expected for Tua Tagovailoa to enter the NFL Draft.

This returns the trio of Mac Jones, Tyson and the younger Tagovailoa and though Jones has the higher classification, supporters of the program want to see the future stars.

Tagovailoa and Tyson were in Saban’s backyard and to get a taste of what we saw from both in high school on a collegiate level would appease everyone.

“The team is seeing both guys throw in 7-on-7 everyday this summer,” sources said on Tagovailoa and Tyson. “You might see Alabama target a few names for 2021, but it does not feel pressured to get a quarterback for this class. Don’t be surprised if it does not sign one. Saban knows what he has in Taulia and Paul.

Hopefully, Tua Tagovailoa can remain healthy in the fall.

He suffered a hamstring injury this week that forced him out from participating in the Manning Passing Academy. Regardless of the news stating the mishap being “minor and not serious,” the returning junior has a history with injuries. Should something occur in the regular season, we could have a situation where Taulia Tagovailoa and Paul Tyson will both be forced into action.

For now, Saban likes Alabama’s future at the position.
