Johnson is a 2021 running back out of Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas,. The Tide offered Johnson after a good showing at camp in June. The 2021 back said he feels this offer is a big one because of Alabama’s continued tradition.
“It feels great because Alabama is a team that has a great tradition and they know how to win championships,” Johnson said.
Arkansas was the first school to offer Johnson when they offered him in March.
The Tide’s offer came from Alabama’s tight end coordinator and special team coach, Jeff Banks, who recruits the entire state of Texas. Banks wants to make the state of Texas a huge part of Alabama’s roster and he could see his hard work pay off in the 2021 recruiting class as several 2021 Texas products have their eyes on the Tide as a potential landing spot.
Johnson is another one of those 2021 recruits, who can see himself playing in crimson and white one day.
“I can see myself playing there because that’s a program where it’s all about hard work, dedication and discipline to get better and succeed,” Johnson said. “I feel like those are the things I am looking for in a program.”
The Cy-Fair running back stands at 5-10 and weighs 204 pounds. Johnson’s height allows him to run low to the ground and create a low center of gravity. The most impressive thing about Johnson’s game is his patience and vision when running the football
Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class has begun with a Texas product in 4-Star defensive back Latrell McCutchin out of Austin, Texas,. McCutchin is the Tide’s only commit in the 2021 recruiting class.
The running back position is expected to be a vital part of the Tide’s recruiting class in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Johnson is one of the names to keep an eye out for in Alabama’s pursuit for 2021 backs.
