This is starting to feel like the 2017 season all over again.
Alabama was already down Trey Sanders (foot) and Joshua McMillon (knee) for the season and now, news has come out that Dylan Moses suffered a season-ending knee injury at Tuesday’s practice. Losing the junior captain at inside linebacker three days before the Crimson Tide’s matchup against Duke is a serious blow.
Moses, native of Baton Rouge, La., was a member of multiple preseason award watch lists and comes off a year where he led the team in tackles.
With him out, Shane Lee (true freshman) becomes the starting middle linebacker.
At 6-feet and 246 pounds, the four-star from Maryland came into the 2019 recruiting class as one of the nation’s top inside linebacker recruits. He enrolled in January and has impressed the team with his ability to make plays and catch on to the defense. Lee was listed second behind Moses on the depth chart that was provided on Monday; however, he is now the man this weekend.
Also, keep your eyes on Markail Benton.
The redshirt sophomore from the 2017 class has three years of experience within the system and much like Moses and McMillon, Benton knows how to line players up. A former four-star from Central High School (Phenix City, Ala.), he will get a chance to show what he can do.
