Budget for Bryant-Denny Stadium renovations increases again

via: Adam Hagy USA Today Sports

According to the Tuscaloosa News, the University of Alabama Board of Trustees has approved a new budget for the renovations of Bryant-Denny Stadium. The previous budget of $92.5 million will increase by approximately $13.5 million to $106 million due to construction costs being more expensive than previously expected.

“We realized this is an aggressive construction schedule we are going to talk about,” said Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne to the Tuscaloosa News. “However, our contractors are confident. They have expressed they will deliver this on time.”

This is now the second time the budget has had to be increased since the plans were first approved. Back in June the budget was raised from $75.46 million to $92.47 million per the Tuscaloosa News.

The renovations will be updating the team entrance, locker room, recruiting space, additional premium seating, relocating the press box, new video boards and a new student plaza. A rather large change will come to the stadiums video boards which will be 60-percent larger.

Some other changes include building concessions, restrooms, social areas with televisions where students enter and building two new stair towers.

All the renovations for the stadium are projected to be complete before the start of the 2020 season.
