Amari Cooper deserves a massive deal following his performance against the Giants

via: Mathew Emmons USA Today Sports

In a contract year, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper is earning every penny with the plays he’s making on the field. The former Alabama star caught six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown in the team’s week one game against the New York Giants.

Cooper who came over to the Cowboys at the midpoint mark of last season was previously listed as a bust with the Oakland Raiders has now completely changed to the trajectory of his career.

The difference in Dallas’ play from when Cooper was added was astoundingly different. Dak Prescott was struggling to find success pushing the ball downfield and running back Ezekiel Elliot was doing all he could to hold up the offense. With the addition of Cooper to the mix, it has opened up many more opportunities for the offense.

Second-year receiver Michael Gallup also saw more success with Cooper there to take some of the pressure of the young player. Gallup had a big game as well reeling in seven catches for 158 yards. When a team has a legit number one receiver, it makes things much easier for the more complementary players as they see more one on one matchups which create more opportunities for success.

But the main topic of conversation shouldn’t be when will Cooper get extended. The conversation should be about how much. Cooper has already stated that the zeros on his deal don’t matter to him, all he wants to do right now is win.

Despite Cooper’s statement Jerry Jones is known to take care of his players and judging by how much money was dished out among the team this offseason one can imagine that the team’s star wide receiver would see a large deal as well.
