Alabama’s secondary had issues with the Mississippi Rebels in recent years under Hugh Freeze, but he is no longer in the Southeastern Conference. Despite this, Patrick Surtain II remains focused on wanting to shut down Ole Miss’ group of wide receivers this weekend.
The sophomore cornerback for the Crimson Tide is among the team leaders in tackles (16) and has two pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one interception. He will face a group of targets, headlined by Elijah Moore (5’9”) that has 380 yards receiving with three touchdown catches.

Regardless of it not having its usual cast of 6-foot-3 and taller weapons, Mississippi is still capable of scoring 40-plus points and Surtain knows it.
After mentioning the Rebels, he also discussed the importance of his father – Patrick Surtain – being a mentor to him as both a man and an athlete.
His father was a corner in the National Football League for 11 years (1998-08).
