UA safety Xavier McKinney explains his hairstyle, takes pride in his leadership

Alabama safety, Xavier McKinney was one of three student-athletes available to the media for interviews on Monday, following the Crimson Tide’s victory over Southern Mississippi. 

He was one of eight players of the week from Alabama’s coaching staff and currently leads the team in total tackles (28) with one interception.

The junior from Roswell, Ga., spoke on the origin of his hairstyle and the challenges of being a leader in a complex defense for the Tide.

McKinney is one of the top defensive backs for the 2020 NFL Draft and anticipates leading Alabama to a win against the University of Mississippi this weekend at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
