Following the team’s victory over the Texas A&M Aggies, the Alabama Crimson Tide returned to Tuscaloosa ready to review and analyze the game. On Monday, ahead of practice, the players of the week were announced by the coaching staff to highlight the standout performances from last week’s matchup.
Listed below are the defensive players of the week:
Xavier McKinney
McKinney continues to be one of the unquestioned leaders on Alabama’s defense in 2019. Although the defense as a whole hasn’t lived up to Nick Saban’s standards, McKinney has been one of the more consistent players and continued to be against Texas A&M. The junior safety finished Saturday’s game with six tackles, one pass break up and also recovered a fumble in the second quarter that was caused by Shyheim Carter.

Terrell Lewis
Last Saturday the world finally got a look at what a healthy Terrell Lewis could do. And the results look quite good for Pete Golding’s defense. Until that game, Alabama’s pass rush primarily came from Anfernee Jennings but now with Lewis in the mix, teams will have a tougher time game planning for the edge rushers. Lewis was able to sack A&M quarterback Kellen Mond two times during the game but also had a total of 11 pressures on the quarterback
