Shane Lee Sack
Shane Lee came up with his second sack of the season on Saturday when he got to the quarterback after missing him earlier in the play. Lee showed a willingness to not give up on a play as he continued to chase the quarterback when he missed the tackle on his initial rush. As Alabama’s young linebackers continue to grow, rushing the quarterback on critical downs will be a major part o their assignment. This play shows Lee is headed in the right direction.
Jared Mayden INT
Mayden is quietly having a solid season as he came up with his second interception. Nick Saban and Pete Golding challenged their defensive backs to played man to man coverage most of the game. This play helped Mayden show, he is not a liability in the secondary and is ready to take another step.
Brian Robinson Rush TD
Brian Robinson reminds Alabama fans of the Tide’s past running back as he runs with downhill with power and speed. On this play, Robinson lowers his shoulder to run through a potential touchdown-saving tackle to put the Tide up by seven. Robinson shows he can be lean on late in tight games to grind out the clock on this play.
Henry Ruggs Make Tackle
Tua Tagovailoa threw his second interception of the season on Saturday and it could have been returned for a touchdown if it was not for Henry Ruggs hawking down the Tennessee defender from behind to make the tackle. Ruggs’ speed has been put on display this season with his impressive yards after the catch On this play, he got a chance to show his speed under a different light.
Trevon Diggs Fumble Recovery TD
Alabama’s biggest play of the game came from the senior cornerback being at the right place at the right time. After Shane Lee forced the fumble on the two-yard line, Trevon Diggs returned it 100 plus yards for a touchdown officially putting the game on ice. With Tua Tagovailoa going down early in the game it was an encouraging sign to see the defense step up and make some big plays.
Jaylen Waddle’s 22-yard Punt Return
As Tennessee kicked the ball back to the Crimson Tide in the fourth quarter Jaylen Waddle’s field flipping return put the nail in Tennessee’s coffin as the Alabama offense was able to take advantage of the great field positioning and run out the clock.
Tua Tagovailoa’s 48-yard pass to Henry Ruggs
Before this game, the only knock which people could even come up with on Tua Tagovailoa’s season was that he has not been completing the deep ball at all this season. But roughly three minutes into the second quarter Tagovailoa connected with wide receiver Henry Ruggs on a 48-yard bullet that set up a Najee Harris touchdown. Before exiting the game Tagovailoa was on pace for a huge game as he completed 12/13 passes for 155 yards in under two-quarters of play.
Ty Perine 43 yard punt
Alabama has had trouble in the punt game the entire season and walk-on freshman punter, Ty Perine might have the had the biggest highlight of the night as he punted the ball 43 yards.
Perine tackle on Second Punt of 51 yards
After showing he has the ability to punt, Perine proved, he was an athlete. The freshman punted the ball 51 yards and made the tackle as well.
Slade Bolden TD pass to Miller Forristall
Slade Bolden’s role has continued to expand this season. This time the redshirt freshman got a chance to throw the ball from the wildcat quarterback position for a score.
