Alabama’s loss to LSU was a tough one for the fans of the Crimson Tide but after the clock struck zero it appeared as if Nick Saban’s team had still gained the respect of the coaches poll and AP voters.
After entering the game ranked number one in both of the polls, Alabama now sits at number four in both showing that both parties still believe they are among the best four teams in the country.

With Alabama coming in at number four in both of the polls does this have any impact on their College Football Playoff ranking?
Perhaps.
In last Tuesday’s rankings, the Crimson Tide came in at No. 3 in the country behind LSU and Ohio State. According to the committee Alabama was placed there essentially only based on eye test since their previous schedule wasn’t that impressive. So after playing a top-three team before the next rankings the eye test again will likely play a big factor in where the Crimson Tide will fall. Which in the grand scheme of things may work in their favor.
When taking a closer look at the LSU loss, Alabama had a number of self-inflicted errors which turned out to be huge point swings in the game. Tua Tagovailoa with a fluke fumble in the red zone cost Alabama at least three points. Tagovailoa’s interception before halftime led to a touchdown by LSU and Ty Perine mishandling a snap led to an LSU field goal.
Those three plays result in at least a 13 point swing and Alabama only lost the game by five.
Whether the committee takes that into account is up to them but the other ranking systems in college football still believe Alabama should have a chance
