Nick Saban does not care for mock drafts, spoke on Mac Jones heading into the Citrus Bowl

He could have Todd McShay and Mel Kiper next to him and he still would not ask advice from them on the NFL Draft.

Mock drafts are the latest thing to put on the “quit asking” list for Nick Saban. He does not entertain them and while Alabama football has a few draft-eligible juniors projected as first-rounders, the Crimson Tide head coach would much rather talk to teams.

After making a statement on his “Hey Coach” show in Orlando (Fla.) on Monday, Saban explained himself on Tuesday with how the draft process actually goes. He said there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to mock drafts.

“We have nine guys that are juniors who got evaluated by the junior committee,” Saban said. “Our job is to give them the correct information, so they can make good decisions based on the reality of their status. We gave them that information. Some guys have first-round grades and everyone has to make a decision about what is best for their future.”

Along with throwing some fun jabs at reporters, Saban discussed Mac Jones and where he feels like the redshirt sophomore has taken the biggest jump. He was Jones to play ‘within himself,’ but he also proud of the confidence he has developed.

The native Floridian started three games this season – including a 300-plus yard (335) passing performance versus Auburn.
