PODCAST: What does Mike Leach’s arrival to the SEC mean for Nick Saban, Alabama?

Cedric Mason - Touchdown Alabama Magazine

With the arrival of Mike Leach to Mississippi State University, the Southeastern Conference will be nothing short of entertaining for years to come. After having success at Texas Tech and Washington State, the 58-year-old could not turn down a shot to coach at an SEC program.

He looks to get the Bulldogs back to competing at a high level, and potentially snatch recruits away from other schools such as Alabama, LSU, Mississippi and Texas A&M to name a few.

Every coach that enters this conference must deal with Nick Saban at some point.

Since arriving at Alabama in 2007, he has guided the Crimson Tide to five national championships and six conference titles.

Saban is revered as the best coach in college football and while Dabo Swinney of Clemson is nipping on his heels, he must win next week to show he’s the new king of the profession.

It will not be easy for Leach, but he is willing to take on the task of molding the Bulldogs to be winners.

In this segment of In My Own Words, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine discusses the potential challenges that Leach could present to Saban.
