PODCAST: Will Nick Saban be able to keep this coaching staff together at Alabama?

Jasen Vinlove - USA TODAY Sports

Alabama football has endured some turnover on its coaching staff in the last few years.

Whether it was losing Kirby Smart, Jeremy Pruitt, Lane Kiffin and Mario Cristobal to head coaching jobs in college or graduating assistants to the NFL, some of Nick Saban’s former assistant coaches have taken on the mindset he once had.

Prior to Alabama winning him over, Saban would not stay at an institution longer than four to five years.

Upon getting a top-tier coach, Crimson Tide fans had the joy of watching it for a year or two before it left for a new challenge. While every assistant aspires to be a head coach, there are some schools that have managed to keep a solid core of guys together for a long time.

The question that supporters of Alabama now ask is what will it take for Alabama to keep its assistant coaches attracted to the program? Obviously, an increase in pay makes the most sense.

However, could there be something better than the money.

It is definitely a thought needed for conversation, especially with how continuity on a coaching staff is very important in recruiting. Saban is the face of the empire, but the 68-year-old does not win national championships on his own.

A focused staff brings in success and for the Tide, it needs to keep this group of coaches together to cash in on more opportunities to win.

On Wednesday, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine brought up the idea as to what needs to happen for Alabama to keep a stable coaching staff on In My Own Words.
