The Way It Is: Episode 3 – How DeVonta Smith became Alabama’s best wide receiver

We have made it to episode three of “The Way It Is” podcast for Touchdown Alabama Magazine.

In this episode, I discuss former Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith.

He became the first Crimson Tide receiver to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy in 2020 and captured a host of other individual accolades. Smith left the program as its all-time leader for catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He was a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is having success with the Philadelphia Eagles. Before his success happened, I saw Smith as a four-star true freshman dominate an open practice at Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2017.

I recall the moment from practice that assured him that Smith was the real deal at wide receiver.
