Alabama adds walk-on punter, Sam Johnson, to 2020 recruiting class

2020 punter, Sam Johnson, announced he will take his talents to the University of Alabama for the next four years Saturday via Twitter.

Johnson is the No. 2 punter in the nation, according to Kohls Kicking. He is a product of Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Kohls’ Kicking describes the Alabama product as a confident punter, with a competitive drive.

“He catches the ball with supreme confidence and is a fierce competitor. He has the ability to be an immediate impact player at the Power 5 level. Johnson competed at the Southern Showcase in May of 2019. His drill work was outstanding showing that he can direction punt and hit the hang-times and distances college coaches are looking for.”

Johnson looks to be the only specialist Alabama will bring in during the 2020 recruiting cycle.
