PODCAST: Can Alabama’s running game be dominant in 2020 with a loaded backfield?

John David Mercer - USA TODAY Sports

Alabama will arguably have the deepest rotation of running backs in the fall, as it returns seven players to its roster at the position.

Najee Harris, a senior, returns as the Crimson Tide’s 1,000-yard rusher in 2019 – totaling 1,224 yards with 13 touchdowns. He posted five 100-yard games last year and is back to position himself for a first-round grade in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Behind him, Alabama has Brian Robinson, Trey Sanders, Keilan Robinson and a trio of true freshmen – Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams and Kyle Edwards – that fans are excited to see.

Regardless of who wins the starting job at quarterback, Nick Saban wants to see the Tide have a balanced attack and run the football.

With the offensive line it returns, the potential to be a physical bunch is there offensively.

Each back in the rotation brings something different to the table, so it will be interesting to see how they complement each other.
