Since the first week of the NFL season there was a common phrase circulating throughout the entire Miami Dolphins fanbase as well as the rest of the league.
Tank for Tua.
Until last weekend it had seemed as if Tagovailoa getting drafted by the Dolphins had essentially been spoken into existence. But in a report by the Sun Sentinel, Tagovailoa had gotten a bit of the “cold shoulder” from Miami’s staff during his interview.
The Dolphins came off as if they were not committing to Tagovailoa right off the bat, and left the interview unexcited and feeling “weird”.
Despite the bizarre interaction, it was also reported that Tagovailoa’s opinion on playing for the Dolphins has not changed.
It should also be noted that Miami’s head coach Brian Flores has a reputation of creating scenarios in which players must overcome adversity in order to evaluate them. This is a skill that has likely been learned from New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, whom Flores served on his staff in a variety of roles for 14 years.
Of course there has been concern surrounding the hip of Tagovailoa since he dislocated it so late in the season and is still recovering. But all indications and reports have shown that he is still expected to make a full recovery and every medical check has gone very well.
Whether the concerning interview for Tagovailoa turns out to just be basic protocol for the Dolphins, things are not getting off to a very hot start.
