PODCAST: Looking at Alabama’s OLB position heading into spring practice

Jerome Miron - USA Today Sports

The tandem of Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Lewis are headed to the NFL Draft, but Alabama returns talented pieces at outside linebacker.

For the Crimson Tide, the idea will be locating the player that can consistently affect the opponent’s passing game and rushing attack.

Among the returning athletes, Alabama has Christopher Allen, King Mwikuta, Jarez Parks, Kevin Harris and Ben Davis.

All five guys bring a different skill set to the roster and though Allen has battled some injuries, he’s prepared to show why he was a sought-after prospect in the 2017 recruiting class.

Not to mention, the Tide also has three freshmen enrollees that will participate in spring practice.

The trio of William Anderson, Chris Braswell and Drew Sanders are getting acclimated to the system.

All three players are five-stars per Touchdown Alabama Magazine, while Sanders and Braswell both received diamond grades of one.

When a recruit or signee has one diamond, it means that athlete projects to be an “immediate contributor and game changer.”

In its five national title seasons under Nick Saban, the Tide has had at least one outside linebacker carry the team in both sacks and tackles for loss.

During Wednesday’s airing of In My Own Words, yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine previewed the outside linebackers for spring football.
