Las Vegas Raiders snatch Henry Ruggs III of Alabama at No. 12 in NFL Draft

Al Davis is somewhere smiling.

He was one of the top three wide receivers in the draft class and despite Jerry Jeudy garnering attention of being the first one taken, Henry Ruggs III was selected first to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 12 overall on Thursday night.

The tandem of Jon Gruden and Mike Mayok got a mixture of speed, route running, hands and playmaking abilities in the Montgomery (Ala.) native.

Not only did Ruggs burn the 40-yard dash at 4.27 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he also displayed a 42” vertical and had 24 career touchdown receptions at Alabama. He has the capabilities to burn defensive backs on any route, and he would work well with either Derek Carr or Marcus Mariota.

Gruden has found Antonio Brown’s replacement and Ruggs is back with Josh Jacobs.
