Broncos’ QB Drew Lock wants to build chemistry with Jerry Jeudy

Mark J. Rebilas - USA TODAY Sports

John Elway, general manager and president of football operations for the Denver Broncos, believes he has the quarterback in Drew Lock and wants to build around him.

On Thursday, the Broncos first pick of the NFL Draft was Jerry Jeudy of Alabama at No. 15 overall and Lock is very excited. Jeudy, a native Floridian, was a two-time 1,000-yard receiver for the Crimson Tide (2018-19) and won the Fred Biletnikoff Award in 2018 as a sophomore.

The 6-foot-1, 193-pounder had 26 touchdown catches for his career (second in school history) and turned in a 40-time of 4.45 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine. After having a precision passer in Tua Tagovailoa, Jeudy has to adjust to the big arm of Lock. A second-round pick of the 2019 draft, Lock played in five games last season – collecting 1,020 passing yards with seven touchdowns to three interceptions.

He accounted for three 3,000-yard seasons (2016-18) in four years at the University of Missouri and compiled 99 scoring passes.

Although he returns a 1,000-yard target in Courtland Sutton, Lock is more than prepared to develop chemistry with Jeudy. According to James Palmer, national reporter for NFL Network, Lock encourages the rookie to link up with him so the two can dive into the playbook.

He is in a spot where he can be productive and in an entertaining AFC West, Jeudy brings an extra spotlight to the Broncos.
