Mac Hereford joins IMOW and talks Jalen Hurts, Xavier McKinney, Alabama football for 2020 and more

Brian Pride - Touchdown Alabama Magazine

Before deciding to spend his fifth and final year of eligibility at Vanderbilt, Mac Hereford was featured on In My Own Words on Monday with yours truly of Touchdown Alabama Magazine.

The former Alabama wide receiver arrived in the 2016 signing class as a preferred walk-on and was a well-respected glue guy in the locker room. A native of Birmingham, Hereford competed with the likes of Calvin Ridley, Robert Foster, Cam Sims, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and DeVonta Smith in practice. Not only did he make them better, but he also provided the Crimson Tide’s defense with great looks on the scout-team in preparing it for opposition.

He was on two Southeastern Conference title teams and a national championship squad in the 2017 season.

In our conversation, Hereford expressed his excitement for his former teammates pursuing their professional dreams and highlighted Xavier McKinney and Jalen Hurts as players that landed in good spots at the NFL Draft. He provided insight into who may be the No. 3 option at wide receiver for the Tide in the fall and what he sees in coaches David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea.

Hereford even discussed one of the funniest moments he had with Nick Saban.
