Alabama football released a video Monday, where their former tight end, O.J. Howard, explained why he chose Alabama.
Howard was rated as a 5-Star recruit coming out of Autauga Academy in Prattville, Alabama in the 2013 recruiting class. He had several Division 1 football offers on the table. In the video, Howard said he felt like family before he committed.
“I would say for me when I was coming on my visits, I always felt like I was at home,” Howard said. “The staff at the time and the players on the team at that time would always show me love and welcome me with open arms. That made me feel like I was already apart of the team before I really was.”
The Prattville product played at Alabama from 2013-2017. He finished his career with 1,726 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. His biggest performance during his time in Tuscaloosa was undoubtedly against Clemson in the 2016 National Championship Game where he had 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns
