As his enters year No. 14 at head coach for the University of Alabama, he is eyeing a seventh national championship — which would put him over the legendary Paul W. “Bear” Bryant.
He and the Crimson Tide have missed on winning the big prize in each of the last two years.
With that being mentioned, people are wondering has the clock run out on Saban’s national title window?
Phil Steele of ESPN is not one of those people.
He sees Alabama ‘coming with a vengeance’ this fall and with the experience and young talent on the roster, it will be difficult to keep the Tide out of the conversation. Injuries played a role in the shortcomings; however, Alabama has a new sports performance staff in strength and conditioning.
Not only are David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea prepared to cut down on injuries, but all injured players from 2019 are back healthy as well.
Aside from 2011, 2012 and 2017, the Tide’s national championships have come in the third year of a series.
This season will be the third year.
