In promoting health and safety during COVID-19, the Southeastern Conference has announced additional game guidelines for the 2020 football season.

On Friday, its front office announced a number of operations for its 14 schools.

This fall, only essential on-field personnel is allowed on the sideline. With this in place, student-athletes, coaches, support personnel, game officials, medical personnel and law enforcement have access. A limited amount of institutional personnel, photographers, and contracted radio/television personnel will also have access to the sideline.

When it comes to tickets, only 500 will be allowed to families of the visiting team.

Bands will be restricted from performing on the field during pre-game and halftime.

For each game, the home and visiting team spaces must be disinfected.

Lastly, the SEC will have a 50 percent press box seating capacity and post-game press conferences will be conducted virtually.

We are living in a different time, but these precautions must take place in order to have football. The SEC will begin its season on Saturday, Sept. 26.
