For Landon Dickerson, his hard work on the field and in the classroom is paying off.
The former graduate transfer from Florida State and second-year starter at Alabama was one of 199 candidates selected as a semifinalist for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy on Thursday.
An announcement came from the National Football Foundation as the award honors an individual who is the absolute best scholar-athlete in the nation, while combining its actions in the classroom with its on-field performance and exemplary leadership in the community.

After earning his undergraduate degree in sports management with a 3.684 cumulative grade point average at FSU, Dickerson graduated Cum Laude in three years. He would then transfer to the University of Alabama to start his graduate program and was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV team in 2019.
A native of Hickory, N.C., Dickerson was also recognized for the First-Year Academic Honor Roll from the Southeastern Conference as a redshirt junior.
When he is not excelling in the classroom or grading out as a dominant offensive lineman on the field, he is putting in nearly 40 hours of work in community service.
The 6-foot-6, 325-pounder was named to Alabama Football’s Leadership Group this year.
Barrett Jones, a former Crimson Tide offensive lineman, was the last player in school history to win the William V. Campbell honor in 2012. As a five-year letterman, Jones was on three national championship teams at three different positions.
He started at right guard in 2009, left tackle in 2011 and center in 2012.
Dickerson has shown versatility at center and right guard. He is looking to create a strong NFL Draft stock for 2021.
