Ed Orgeron of LSU on keeping his players engaged: “We got Alabama coming up, our biggest rivalry. That’s enough right there.”

He probably will not have Myles Brennan (abdomen) at quarterback versus Alabama, but Ed Orgeron still feels good about Louisiana State University next week against the Crimson Tide.

LSU has looked at true freshmen TJ Finley and Max Johnson at quarterback; however, Brennan has the most experience.

Despite the Tigers being 2-3 and not looking like a defending national champion, Orgeron told reporters in Wednesday’s Southeastern Conference Coaches Teleconference that his team is still engaged. When it comes to keeping players motivated, he used the idea of the Tide being next on its schedule. After earning a 46-41 victory last season at Bryant-Denny Stadium, Orgeron entered the locker room and told his players that LSU would defeat Alabama in everything from that moment on.

“We gonna beat that a** in recruiting. We gonna beat that a** every time they see us. You understand that. Roll Tide what? F*** you!” – Ed Orgeron after beating Alabama in 2019

The Tide has not forgotten the moment, but neither has Orgeron. He said his players are locked in.

“We’ve got the University of Alabama coming up, our biggest rivalry. That’s enough right there,” Orgeron said in the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

Both schools will face each other off a bye week.

Alabama is on pace to win an SEC Championship and contend for a national championship, while the Tigers look to salvage its season and spoil all hopes for the Tide. Orgeron sees Nick Saban has his biggest rival.

Next week will be very entertaining.
