Mac Jones has to get him the football, but few receivers are consistently doing what DeVonta Smith does upon getting opportunities.

He has not only been the dependable wide receiver, but he has also served as the No. 1 target this season.

During an unprecedented year, the senior chimes in with unbelievable performances — despite having a 10-game, conference-only schedule because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder has owned defensive secondaries in the Southeastern Conference, as he totals six 100-yard games. Smith has a pair of 200-yard finishes versus Mississippi State (203) and Louisiana State University (231), while recording four straight 100-yard performances dating back to the matchup with the Bulldogs.

His outing against LSU earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Maxwell National Player of the Week.

On last week, Smith brought in a game-high eight catches for 231 yards with three touchdowns.

He helped the Crimson Tide deliver a strong message to the Tigers, and make history at the same time. Alabama’s output of 55 points was the first time since 1895 (rivalry started) where LSU allowed at least 50 points to the Tide. Smith propelled the team to a dominant, 55-17 victory.

He leads college football in receiving yards (1,305) and is tied for first in touchdowns (15).

Smith has accomplished a 1,000-yard campaign for a second straight season, and he is closing in on rewriting all the school records in receiving.

Once a four-star recruit from Louisiana, he has transformed himself into being the best receiver in Alabama football history and arguably the best player in college football this year. Although he is a semifinalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s top wide receiver, Tide fans want to see Smith included more in the Heisman conversation.

After an injury to Jaylen Waddle, some media pundits felt like Alabama’s offense would take a step back.

However, the play of Smith has it not missing a beat. If one was to remove him from Steve Sarkisian, the Crimson Tide’s production truly suffers. John Metchie has much potential, Slade Bolden has talent and its trio of freshmen — Javon Baker, Traeshon Holden and Thiau Jones-Bell — bring tools to the table, nevertheless, Smith makes this offense unstoppable.
