Ga’Quincy McKinstry signed a National Letter of Intent to play football at the University of Alabama Wednesday.
McKinstry is one of the five 5-Star recruits, who had been verbally committed to Alabama before the early signing period, according to Touchdown Alabama. The elite prospect chose Alabama over LSU and Auburn. McKinstry will enroll at the University in January as an early enrollee.

He told Touchdown Alabama he was ready to get his signing behind him last week.
“I am ready to get it over with, for real,” McKinstry said. “I want to sign then get right to business in Tuscaloosa.”
The Pinson Valley High School (Alabama) product will have the opportunity to play football and basketball at the next level. Since he is enrolling early, McKinstry will not play basketball as a senior. He does still plan to play basketball in college.
The Indians’ head basketball coach Darrel Barber said he believes if anyone can play two sports at the next level it would be McKinstry.
“I am really excited for this kid,” Barber said. “He has been a hard worker on the field, on the court and in the classroom. Alabama is going to get a proven winner. He is a very humble and is an unselfish kid. I have always believed in free education and for that to be the University of Alabama, that is big.”
Alabama plans to line McKinstry up at cornerback. Pinson used the 5-Star recruit there throughout his career, but he has also shined as a wide receiver throughout his career. The Alabama signee helped the Indians win the 6A state championship in Bryant-Denny Stadium earlier this month with some big plays at wide receiver.
McKinstry had 5 receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown in the state championship game.
McKinstry was able to come up big one more time before he signed with Alabama. In the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, he took home the MVP award after a two-interception performance.

Alabama is getting a special athlete in McKinstry. His elite ball skills as a wide receiver carry over to the defensive side of the football along with his athleticism. He will need to gain some weight, but has shown he can aggressive at times.
