Jalen Milroe signed his National Letter of Intent with the Alabama Crimson Tide Wednesday.
Milroe is a 4-Star dual-threat quarterback, according to Touchdown Alabama. He flipped his commitment from Texas to Alabama in August. Todd McVey, the head football coach at Tompkins High School, said Milroe uses his feet to open up plays for his arm.
“Jalen is not just looking to run, he is looking to extend the play,” McVey said. “You watch Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City and (Lamar) Jackson and that is what they are trying to do, extend plays with their feet to throw. I think that it is good that he is learning this now. I know as a young guy he wants to take off at times, but he is scanning the field to the very last second.”
Tompkins went undefeated in the regular season and is gearing up to play Cy-Fair in the second round of the state playoffs. Milroe has had some masterful performances for Tompkins. His biggest performance was against Kay High School.
Milroe led Tompkins to a 24-19 win over Katy. This win ended Katy’s 75-game district winning streak. He completed 15 of 21 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
