Anquin Barnes signed his National Letter of Intent with Alabama football Wednesday.
Barnes verbally committed to Alabama on April 17. He was one of Alabama’s longest-standing commits before he signed. The Lee-Montgomery product told Touchdown Alabama he is excited to play for his dream school when he revealed he was ‘100 percent’ locked in with Alabama.
“I am most excited about getting a chance to play for my dream school,” Barnes said. “Alabama has been that as long as I knew what football was.”
Alabama will get Barnes on campus in the Summer. He will spend the next few months on the hardwood as a member of Lee-Montgomery’s basketball team. This should help Barnes stay in shape and improve his mobility.
Barnes was heavily recruited by several programs despite a 3-Star rating. Georgia was heavily involved in his recruitment at one point. Ole Miss and Auburn continued to stay in contact when he was committed to Alabama.
The Alabama signee currently stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs approximately 330 pounds. He possesses great strength and shows bursts of quickness at times. Barnes has the potential to be an effective defensive tackle at the next level, but he also has experience as an offensive lineman.
