Alabama – Florida Predictions

Mac Jones throws a pass in Iron Bowl versus Auburn

Alabama football and Florida will square off in the 2020 SEC Championship game Saturday.

Touchdown Alabama’s staff predicts how this one will play out:

STEPHEN M. SMITH / SENIOR REPORTER

Alabama 31 – Florida 10

Key Insight: “Alabama is going to come out and try to establish the run versus Florida. Under Nick Saban, the running back position has had a lot of success in the SEC Championship Game, so watch Najee Harris. A strong performance is in line for Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith but watch Harris. Defensively, the Tide must create pressure on Kyle Trash and frustrate Kyle Pitts. The Gators have struggled to run the football. If Alabama can win the edge, create turnovers and get to Trask, it will be a long night for Florida.”

JUSTIN SMITH / SCOUTING/RECRUITING ANALYST

Alabama 41 – Florida 24

Key Insight: “This is one of the best offenses Alabama has played this season. The Tide’s defense has dramatically improved over the last couple of weeks, but this will be the ultimate test for them. The Gators’ offense will look to play at a fast pace because this has caused Alabama problems this season. Kyle Trask will be tasked with getting the ball to his multiple playmakers. Kyle Pitts could be the X factor for Dan Mullen and company. Pete Golding and Alabama’s defensive front will need to disrupt their timing by providing pressure. Alabama should operate as usual on offense. No one has even been able to slow down the Tide and Florida is not expected to do so. This game could be close through the first couple of quarters, but Alabama should create separation the deeper the games go. The 4th quarter should be all Alabama.”

PATRICK DOWD / ALABAMA BEAT REPORTER

Alabama 48 –  Florida 31

Key Insight: “Both Alabama and Florida’s offenses have overpowered every team in the SEC this season but today’s championship game will come down to the defenses. Neither will hold the other to under 20 points but getting key stops will be the difference in the game and Alabama’s unit is more capable of getting a few more stops than the Gators. Mac Jones may very well lock up the Heisman Trophy in this game and expect him to have a big game.”
