Alabama football will lose a member from its 2018 signing class to the transfer portal.
I want to thank the University of Alabama and coach Saban for believing in me. I also want to thank my brothers for lifelong memories made. Although this was a tough decision, after much thought and prayer I have decided to enter the transfer portal.

Eddie Smith, a reserve defensive back, announced his decision to enter the portal on Wednesday via Twitter.
A redshirt sophomore, Smith arrived as a three-star safety with instincts, versatility and ball skills. Due to the amount of talent playmakers in the secondary, Smith did not get the opportunity to create an impact this season. The 6-foot, 196-pounder played in seven games during his first two seasons. He played against Mississippi State and Kentucky in the 2020 regular season, while seeing some snaps in the secondary on Monday night in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
With more talent coming to the Tide for 2021, Smith will look to find a place where he can be impactful.
