College football programs are continuing to evaluate prospects earlier and earlier, and one eighth-grader out of Oxford, Alabama is proof of that.
Anquon Fegans, a 2025 recruit, reported an offer from the University of Georgia Tuesday. Fegans currently attends Oxford High School. He played on the Yellow Jackets’ junior varsity and varsity football teams last season.
Fegans said he did not anticipate getting a D1 football offer at this stage in his development.
“It feels great,” Fegans told Touchdown Alabama. “It was just very unexpected. I did not think it would come this early.”
The Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide are recruiting Anquon’s older brother, Trequon Fegans. Trequon expressed heavy interest in Georgia in a recent interview with Touchdown Alabama, and Anquon has similar feelings towards the Bulldogs.

“They are a good football team and I like the way Kirby (Smart) uses their defense,” Fegans said. “I love everything about it, and I like how they do things down there.”
Georgia’s coaching staff expressed to Fegans that they like how he attacks the football when it is in his area and his coverage skills. Fegans started and played every game on Oxford’s junior varsity team at 6-foot and 164 pounds. The eighth-grader also saw significant playing time on the varsity squad.

An eighth-grader rarely receives an offer from one of the top programs in the nation, but it shines a light on a possible bright future ahead of one of the young talents within the state of Alabama. The Crimson Tide has offered an eighth-grader in the past, and it is not out of the realm of possibility to think Anquon could get a look from the Tide in the future.
“The University of Alabama’s football team is one of the best in country,” Fegans said. “I have a lot of love for them as well.”
