On Saturday a video surfaced on the internet of what appeared to be from an Alabama recruit who was receiving a pitch from head coach Nick Saban. During the video, Saban was highlighting the level of competition during practices which helped benefit the players during the games.
Saban also compared the Crimson Tide program to the most dominant franchise in the history of sports.

Near the end of the video where he was selling the recruit on coming to play in Tuscaloosa, Saban said “This ain’t for everybody. Aight everybody can’t play for the Yankees man.”
Essentially Saban was telling the potential student-athlete that not everyone is cut out to play at Alabama, showing the recruit that the fact he is being targeted by the Tide means he is deserving to play for the top team in all of college football.
Although it may seem like a daunting comparison to make when considering the Yankee have won 27 World Series and sent 45 players to the hall of fame. But the run Saban and the Crimson Tide have been on over the past 14 years are definitely worthy of consideration.
In that 14 year span, Alabama has won six national championships and played in eight, which is more than any school in college football in that period. The Yankees had recently displayed a similar era of dominance in the mid-90s to early 2000s.
From 1996 to 2001, the Yankees won four World Series titles and played in five. Within those championship series, the Bronx Bombers had a record of 19-7. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the franchise possesses even more of a history of dominance.
The Yankees once won five World Series in a row from 1949-1953 making them the only team in the history of Major League Baseball to accomplish that feat.
Much like Saban’s current streak of Alabama teams, those classic Yankees squads never went long without winning a championship.
Accompanying each of these goliaths in the sports world are countless numbers of legendary players who helped fill up each other’s trophy cases.
Whether it was Derek Jeter, Babe Ruth, Micky Mantle or Mariano Rivera for the Yankees or Tua Tagovailoa, Derek Henry, Mark Ingram and Julio Jones for Alabama. You could write books with just the names of these players and they’ll fill up pages.
Based on the evidence the comparison by Saban is apt, and it may get even more convincing as he brings in another brigade of fantastic recruits.
