Haynes is the third 2023 running back to receive an offer from Alabama. The Georgia native currently holds more than 20 D1 offers. Alabama’s running back coach Robert Gillespie informed Haynes of his offer from the Crimson Tide. The two of them have a previous relationship.
“I have known coach Gillespie since he was at North Carolina,” Haynes told Touchdown Alabama. “My former teammate, Elijah Green, went to UNC and Gillespie was the one who recruited him. We have had a pretty good relationship since last year. He is an amazing coach. I remember me and Elijah were out doing drills at practice one day, and he was there. He took time out to show us how to do them better and coach us up. He knows what he is talking about, and recruiting-wise, he is the best of the best.”
The four-star recruit said he felt like one of his dreams came true when he found out Alabama offered him.
“It is an amazing honor and blessing to hold an offer from them,” Haynes said. “It is just a dream come true. Alabama is such a prestigious school. They are the best. To get an offer from them means a lot.”
Haynes also had high praise for Nick Saban.
“Nick Saban is the goat,” Haynes said. “What he has been able to do is remarkable. When he is done, we may never see what he has done ever again. It is amazing what he is doing and continues to do with consistency. It is really impressive.”
Alabama’s coaching staff told Haynes they were impressed with his overall game and his versatility. Haynes currently stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 190 pounds. He runs the football with toughness and power.
