The Heisman Trophy winner for 2020 in college football is off the board.
He dominated the Southeastern Conference last season, but DeVonta Smith is now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles as it selected him on Thursday night at No. 10 overall. He recorded 117 receptions for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns during his senior year at the University of Alabama. Smith was a two-time national champion and ended his career at the Crimson Tide’s all-time leading receiver. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder is about to do some damage in the pros. People have picked on him because of his size, but he is about to give them the business. Smith is the seventh receiver Nick Saban has placed in the first round of the draft since 2011.
Smith is reunited with his former quarterback at Alabama, Jalen Hurts.
He joins Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III, and Jaylen Waddle.
