We have ended this year’s NFL Draft, but people are now evaluating talent for 2022.

Alabama football set a record for having multiple wide receivers taken in the first round in consecutive drafts.

After watching Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith get selected in the top-10, there are whispers of John Metchie being just as good if not better than the duo. According to Matt Miller, an NFL Draft analyst for ESPN, one pro scout told him Metchie is better than Waddle or Smith. When this statement was made on social media, Crimson Tide fans immediately started laughing.

Metchie is good, but is he on the same level as Waddle or Smith? This is the question.

The junior from Canada will have a chance to prove himself. He will lead a young receiver room and will help settle Bryce Young in as the starting quarterback. Metchie showed explosive playmaking abilities in 2020, as he totaled 55 receptions for 916 yards with six touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder had two 100-yard performances against Texas A&M (181) and Tennessee (151).

If he can be more consistent with his catches, then Metchie may be a top-10 draft pick.
