Shyheim Carter is headed back to the National Football League.
According to a report from Aaron Wilson, who covers the Houston Texans, the graduate assistant on Alabama’s coaching staff turned in a successful rookie minicamp tryout. The Texans are signing Carter, and he gets another chance to pursue his dream.

Carter, a native of Kentwood, La., was a defensive back for the Crimson Tide from 2016 to 2019.

He was the starting nickel back for Alabama in 2018 and 2019. Carter totaled 87 tackles, six tackles for loss, 17 pass breakups, three interceptions, and two touchdowns during that span. He had 43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, seven breakups, and one interception as a senior in 2019. Carter was on two Southeastern Conference title teams (2016, 2018) and one national championship team in 2017.
