Shawn Murphy released his top five schools Saturday.
Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Penn State and LSU were included in Murphy’s top schools’ list. The Crimson Tide have been very active in Murphy’s recruitment for a couple of years. Murphy received an offer from Alabama in May of 2019 and has visited the program a couple of times.
The Tide were able to get Murphy on campus for an unofficial visit on June 16th after the 15-month recruiting dead period was lifted by NCAA.

Robert Woodyard, a four-star linebacker, is Alabama’s only 2022 inside linebacker commit. After signing three linebackers in the 2021 recruiting cycle, Nick Saban and company could sign a similar number during the 2022 cycle. Murphy is one of the top candidates to get one of those spots.
The Virginia product has a good frame for a potential Power five linebacker at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. Murphy is a hard-hitting linebacker, who closes on the football with good speed. He can play sideline to sideline and is effective in pass coverage.
