Week 1 of the NFL was a big stage for multiple former Alabama players to shine as the 2021 season kicked off.
But for two of its former quarterbacks Mac Jones and Jalen Hurts, it was an opportunity to put the rest of the league on notice. Both quarterbacks won their starting jobs in training camp and proved worthy of their opportunities.
Jones, who squared off against the Miami Dolphins, completed 29 of 39 attempts for 281 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots 17-16 loss.
Hurts dominated the Falcons completing 27 of 35 attempts for 264 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a total of 62 yards on seven attempts.
Both performances proved to enthuse the fan bases of both franchises as both Hurts and Jones’ jersey sales sky rocketed to the top of the list heading into Week 2. Hurts’ green jersey ranked number one with Jones’ coming just behind at number two according to Fanatics.
Both of the Crimson Tide products will look to further their impact on the league this Sunday as Hurts will look to continue his success against the San Francisco 49ers while Jones looks to get the Patriots in the win column against the New York Jets.
