Alabama defensive lineman Byron Young appeared to leave last Saturday’s game against Mississippi State banged up.
Head coach Nick Saban gave an update on Young’s status during his Monday press conference, sharing the junior suffered a shoulder injury and is currently day-to-day.
“He’s got a little shoulder problem,” Saban said. “He’s kind of day-to-day. We can’t make a call on where he is right now.”
Young is coming off a strong performance against the Bulldogs where he recorded three total tackles, one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss in the Crimson Tide’s 49-9 victory in Starkville.
On the season, Young has appeared in seven games as a main part of Alabama’s rotation on the defensive line and has produced 20 total tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and one quarterback hit so far.
Alabama’s next game will come this Saturday, Oct. 23 as it hosts Tennessee inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.
