The Alabama coaching staff selected 12 players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 49-9 win at Mississippi State last Saturday. John Metchie III, Brian Robinson Jr. and Bryce Young on offense; Will Anderson Jr., Jalyn Armour-Davis, Jordan Battle, Josh Jobe and Henry To’oTo’o on defense; and Slade Bolden, Ja’Corey Brooks, Will Reichard and Jameson Williams on special teams all earned the recognition for their play in Starkville.
OFFENSE
John Metchie III
- Led all Crimson Tide wideouts with seven catches for 117 yards and a score
- Found the end zone from 46 yards out for Alabama’s first score of the night
- Converted a Tide first down on four of his catches to go with his touchdown
Brian Robinson Jr.
- Averaged 7.1 yards per carry against the Bulldogs, rushing 11 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns
- Added a career-high five receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown through the air
- Turned his career-long 51-yard reception into six points
Bryce Young
- Threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns as part of his 20-of-28 night passing
- Contributed with his legs as well, rushing for 34 combined yards while converting two first downs
- Finished 7-of-7 passing for 178 yards and three scores on third downs
DEFENSE
Will Anderson Jr.
- Dominated up front, finishing with four sacks (-35 yards) as part of his six total tackles
- Became just the third player in Alabama history to record four-plus sacks in a game, joining Derrick Thomas and Leroy Cook
- Broke up one pass while also being credited six quarterback hurries by the Crimson Tide coaching staff
Jalyn Armour-Davis
- Recorded five tackles against the Bulldogs
- Also tallied one quarterback pressure on the night
Jordan Battle
- Picked off two passes in the game, including one that he returned 40 yards for a pick-six
- The interception for a touchdown was the second of Battle’s career and the Tide’s first this season
- Finished with seven total tackles and added one pass breakup to go with pair of picks
Josh Jobe
- Set the tone early, picking off a pass on the Bulldogs’ first offensive drive of the night
- Added six total tackles, including one for loss (-7 yards) to go with his interception
- Helped the Tide defense total three interceptions by game’s end, its most since Oct. 17 against Georgia last season
Henry To’oTo’o
- Led the Alabama defense with a career-high 13 tackles
- Posted 1.5 tackles for loss (-7 yards) to go with a sack (-6 yards)
- His sack added to UA’s season-high total of seven (-53 yards) in the game
SPECIAL TEAMS
Slade Bolden
- Played through injury to help contribute on special teams
- Also caught two passes for nine yards as a receiver
Ja’Corey Brooks
- Continued to make an impact on special teams, nearly blocking a punt against the Bulldogs
- Also filled in as a return man on kickoff coverage next to Jameson Williams
Will Reichard
- Forced five touchbacks across his eight kickoffs for 445 yards
- Contributed seven PATs in as many tries
Jameson Williams
- Returned two kickoffs for a combined 65 yards with a long of 45 that he nearly broke for a score
- Also contributed on the Tide’s coverage units
- Finished with two receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown on offense, as well
