It wasn’t nearly the complete performance it was from a week ago, by Alabama was able to secure its seventh win of the season against Tennessee.
The Crimson Tide offense was stalled for a majority of the third quarter as it was forced to back-to-back three and outs after a 21 point first half.
The Volunteers pass rush was consistently beating the Alabama offensive line and forcing quarterback Bryce Young into unfavorable positions. But it was Young who would get Alabama out of its funk offensively thanks to the crafty playmaking ability from his legs.
Young ran for his first two touchdowns of the season and both came in crucial points in the game as he successfully fended off the Tennessee offense.
Defensively, Alabama gave up another long touchdown to wide receiver Cedric Tillman but made up for the breakdown in coverage with an interception from defensive back Jayln Armour-Davis which took away any hope the Volunteers had.
The defensive front led by Will Anderson, Christian Harris and Henry To’oto’o smothered the Tennessee running game as it held the Volunteers to 65 rushing yards on the night.
Alabama will now head to the bye week 7-1 as it extends its winning steak against Tennessee to 15 games.
