With two days to go until the SEC Championship game, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave a few final injury updates on various players throughout the roster.
The most pressing injury being monitored this week was that of running back Brian Robinson who pulled a muscle in his leg against Auburn last week. Robinson had to sit out the four overtime periods and has been monitored throughout the week as the Crimson Tide prepares for Georgia. As of Thursday, the senior is still being evaluated as day-to-day.
“We’re doing some things today with him in practice and see how he responds,” Saban said during the SEC Championship Game pregame press conference. “So he’s gonna be day-to-day.”
Should Robinson not be able to play against the Bulldogs, it would leave one scholarship running back on the roster in Trey Sanders.
Alabama’s starting center Darrian Dalcourt was another player who left the Iron Bowl as he was dealing with an ankle sprain. Saban stated that Dalcourt is in the same boat as Robinson as the team will continue to evaluate the injury.
“Pretty much the same situation B-Rob is in,” Saban said. “He’s been able to practice on a limited basis and we’ll see what he can do today, how he responds to it and it’s gonna be a day-to-day situation as well.”
Cornerback Jayln Armour-Davis missed all of last week’s game against Auburn dealing with a hip injury, and Saban reported that he too is being looked at on a day-to-day basis.
“He’s been able to do just a limited amount of things,” Saban said. “He doesn’t play a position where if he’s not full speed he can be expected to play. But we’re still going to sort of look at him on a day-to-day basis too and see how he progresses. So we’ll just have to wait and see.”
