Notre Dame’s 2023 tight end commit, Cooper Flanagan reported an offer from Alabama football Thursday via Twitter.
Extremely honored to have received an offer from the University of Alabama. Big thanks to @HolmonWiggins @CoachSvoboda for this opportunity! pic.twitter.com/BTmLGp3zzv

Flanagan is a product of De La Salle High School in Concord, California, and he is rated as a four-star recruit by most recruiting outlets. He holds 13 D1 football offers. The Crimson Tide are the second SEC program to offer the four-star recruit and are the first team to offer Flanagan since he committed to the Fighting Irish.
Alabama’s wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins informed Flanagan of his offer.
“I had a great conversation with coach, and I was just excited to get recognition from Alabama football,” Flanagan said. “That really was great. Alabama is obviously a top program. Coach Wiggins had been reaching out, but when we spoke this week, I was offered. I was just super honored.”
The Notre Dame commit has watched Alabama play several times this season and said he is impressed with their passing game as a whole.
“My family and I watch every game,” Flanagan said. “I like that coach O’Brien is there and their full field passing is nice to watch. I do watch their tight end play, not a ton of catches currently in their system, but they still play a real active role. Their offense looks like an NFL type of offense for sure.”
Flanagan is considered a hybrid tight end. He is one of the best blocking tight ends in the 2023 recruiting class, and he is a capable receiving threat with his impressive body control and ability to catch the football in traffic.
“I think coach feels I would be a good fit, physically,” said Flanagan. “Me being almost 6-foot-6 and 242 pounds right now helps. But overall my blocking, my ball skills and my ability to pick up yards after catches are why I think coach feels I will be a good fit for Alabama football.”

Flanagan does not have a visit to Alabama planned at the moment but feels he should give them a look. He has family in the south and a visit to Tuscaloosa in the future is very possible.
